RYAN REYNOLDS AND ROB MCELHENNEY GET MASSIVE CASH BOOST AFTER WREXHAM PROMOTION

Wrexham's ascent to the Championship is not only a triumph on the pitch but also brings a significant monetary incentive for their star-studded ownership duo. Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are poised to reap an £8million windfall in television revenue following the Red Dragons securing promotion with a match to spare.

The team from north Wales kept their remarkable nine-game unbeaten streak alive with a convincing 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Saturday. Wycombe Wanderers' hopes of pushing the promotion battle to the wire were dashed after they succumbed to a 1-0 loss at Leyton Orient.

Prior to Wrexham clinching their spot, Kieran Maguire, a specialist in football finances, provided insight into the financial implications during a chat with talkSPORT. "If we start with the money coming in, which is spectacular, Wrexham made three times as much money as any other club in League Two, more than any other club in League One, and they would actually be in the top half of the Championship," he explained.

He pointed out that Wrexham's fiscal achievements were close to those of the Championship's more established teams: "Therefore, they're not that far behind the big hitters of the Championship, the likes of Stoke and Norwich and so on. It's an incredible achievement in terms of bringing in the money and it's their ability to become an international brand which has really driven this.

"I was teaching in Charlotte in Carolina last year, and the only football shirts I saw were those of Wrexham, which is an amazing achievement, and that's on the back of the documentary. If they get promoted this year, that adds another £8million of TV money because they'll be in the Championship TV deal. That would put them fairly close to all of the clubs, with the exception of those who are in receipt of parachute payments, in the Championship" reports the Mirror.

Wrexham have been climbing the ranks impressively, winning promotion for the third consecutive season. After leading the National League in the 2022-23 season and securing a second-place finish behind Stockport in League Two last campaign, they continue to push boundaries.

With 88 points already under their belt from last term, they've ensured a superior tally this season in the third tier. Yet, even if they clinch an additional victory to finish on 92 points, they will fall well short of Birmingham City, the current runaway leaders.

Ahead of the summer, Wrexham bolstered their squad with multiple signings aimed at propelling their promotion ambitions. Among these, Ollie Rathbone has proven to be a significant contributor during the crucial final stages.

The former Manchester United academy player found the net in the recent triumph over Blackpool and had a pivotal role in the matchup with Charlton.

Shortly after Rathbone's goal in the 15th minute of the game, January acquisition Sam Smith enhanced Wrexham's advantage. Smith, who transferred for a hefty sum from Reading earlier this year, went on to nab a second for himself and a third for the team after the interval.

All of the club's three promotions were realised under the stewardship of manager Phil Parkinson, and co-owner Reynolds was quick to commend the gaffer following their most recent success. "You can look at so many beating hearts at this club and it all starts with Phil," he commented.
